What can a photographer experience with a local guide that they might miss when exploring Amsterdam on their own?
Photography isn't just about knowing where to go—it’s about knowing when. After more than 14 years leading photography tours in Amsterdam, I've learnt how the changing light, atmosphere and rhythm of the city can transform an ordinary scene into an unforgettable photograph.

How do you adapt the experience for different cameras, interests and levels of photography experience?
No two guests are the same, so no two tours should be either. Whether you're using an iPhone or DSLR or anything in between, I adapt the experience around your interests, confidence and goals, helping you get the very best from the equipment you already have.

What is the most rewarding moment you experience while guiding a photography tour?
Watching someone realise they’re capable of creating photographs they never thought possible. Seeing that confidence grow—and knowing they’ll keep using those skills long after the tour—is the most rewarding part of what I do.

How do you help people capture Amsterdam in a way that feels personal to them?
I start by understanding what inspires you. Some people are drawn to architecture, others to street life, reflections, light or quiet canals. My role is to help you photograph the Amsterdam that speaks to you, rather than simply following a fixed route.

What do you think makes a photograph memorable?
The photographs we remember aren't always the most technically perfect—they're the ones that make us feel something. When light, timing, emotion and story come together, that's when a photograph becomes something truly special.
